ICIWaRM had two roles in the meeting. First, there were discussions centered around the past, present and future of the Global Network on Water and Development Information for Arid Lands (G-WADI). ICIWaRM is the Global Technical Secretariat for G-WADI. ICIWaRM Deputy Director Will Logan co-led G-WADI discussions at a breakout session along with Dr. Gabriel Mancilla, Director of the Water Center for Arid and Semi-Arid Zones in Latin America and the Caribbean (CAZALAC) of Chile, which is the Technical Secretariat for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Logan also gave an update on ICIWaRM, summarizing its activities in 2017 and highlighting potential areas of future cooperation with centers, committees and chairs in the region. Many ideas were exchanged and several joint activities are likely to develop out of these discussions in the coming year.
