CUAHSI and ICIWaRM Collaborate on Data-Sharing for the BuPuSa Basin, Southern Africa

HydroShare is a web-based hydrologic information system for users to share and publish data and models in a variety of flexible formats. Developed by the Consortium of Universities for the Advancement of Hydrologic Science, Inc. (CUAHSI), it aims to make this information citable, shareable and discoverable. It enables users to collaborate and work as teams in a web-based collaborative environment.

CUAHSI and ICIWaRM have collaborated to create a version of HydroShare for the BuPuSa tri-basin region of Zimbabwe and Mozambique. A training class was held on September 20, 2021 to introduce water professionals in the region to the system. Funding was provided by the U.S. State Department. The following skills were taught:

1. Create a CUAHSI HydroShare account at https://www.hydroshare.org/home/.
2. Find the Mozambique and Zimbabwe HydroShare Groups.
3. Add resources to the group.
4. Properly annotate the resource.
5. Set sharing permissions.

In addition, the BuPuSa Community, which contains the two groups, was demonstrated. Training materials were provided to participants.
