American Water Resources Association (AWRA)
The American Water Resources Association (AWRA) and IWR signed a Memorandum of Understanding with a goal of enhancing the use of effective water resources development and management policies by working in partnership with other national and international organizations. The two organizations share an interest in promoting scholarship, professionalism, innovation, and capacity building.

Purpose: AWRA and IWR will use their best efforts to establish a long-term cooperation and partnership in the field of integrated water resources development and management, engineering, ecologic and scientific excellence, and capacity building.
Terms: The Parties are especially interested in pursuing cooperative opportunities in the following areas of common interest:
- Integrated water resources management (IWRM) and environmentally sustainable development
- Infrastructure development
- Peer review and peer support of technical products and services
- Hydrologic, hydraulic and water resources systems analysis modeling
- Natural disaster preparedness, prevention, mitigation, recovery and reconstruction
- Water security, risk analysis and protection of critical water
- Environmental protection, sanitation, water quality, hazards remediation, health and safety resources infrastructure
- Ecosystem analysis and design, environmental restoration, eco-hydrology
- Collaborative planning, public involvement, communications, consensus building and conflict resolution
- Water policy dialogue and development, governance and institutional analysis
- Capacity building, including training, technology transfer, organizational development and mentoring
- Professional and academic standards, educational methods and systems, water resources educational program development
About American Water Resources Association
The American Water Resources Association is a non-profit professional association dedicated to the advancement of men and women in water resources management, research, and education. It is the professional home of a wide variety of water resources experts including engineers, educators, foresters, biologists, ecologists, geographers, managers, regulators, hydrologists and attorneys. Its mission is to advance multidisciplinary water resources education, management and research.
