HEC and ICIWaRM Collaborate in Paraguay Water Resources Training Workshop
ALEXANDRIA, VA—April 15, 2011. ICIWaRM staff collaborated with partners in a Hydrology and Hydraulics Workshop in Asuncion, Paraguay, from 21 – 30 March. The workshop was sponsored by ICIWaRM in conjunction with UNESCO. It was held in cooperation with a sister UNESCO water center on Hydro-Informatics. Personnel from the U.S. Army Engineer Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) also provided training during the workshop.
Over 25 participants from Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and Chile participated in the workshop. It featured training sessions on software programs developed by HEC. Programs addressed in the workshop included HEC-HMS (Hydrologic Modeling System), HEC-RAS (River Analysis System), and HEC-ResSim (Reservoir Simulation). The workshop also included several days of model building and simulation of the participants’ reservoir management capabilities.
